Student Services

By following the Student Code of Conduct, our students help to create a safe environment which facilitates learning. With parental involvement, students will be able to achieve both academically, socially and emotionally.

Our students are reminded that they are at school for one reason, and that is to learn. Any behaviors or actions that interrupt learning will not be tolerated. In the Dean’s Office, our goal every day is to ensure a positive and safe learning environment for all of our students.

One policy we have at BTMS to limit distractions and encourage active classroom participation is restricted use of cell phones. The use of cell phones on campus is not allowed. We understand the necessity for our students to carry a cell phone, but it must be turned off during the school day. Students are not allowed to use or have their phones visible at any time during the school day, including lunch. Calling your child’s cell phone or sending them text messages during the school day is distracting to their learning. If you need to contact your child during the school day, please contact the main office.

The Flagler Schools Code of Conduct reads: Any disruptive, harassing or other inappropriate use of a cell phone or wireless communications device in violation of this policy or school rules, shall be cause for disciplinary action, including confiscation of the device as contraband and, in the event of repeated or serious misuse, loss of the privilege to possess such a device on school property or while attending a school function.

Inappropriate use includes, but is not limited to:

(1) texting, phoning or web browsing during prohibited times.
(2) taping conversations, music or other audio at any time.
(3) photography or videography of any kind at any time.
(4) any activity that could in any manner infringe upon the rights of other individuals, including but not limited to students, teachers and other staff members.

Please understand that students who upload images or videos to the internet or social media sites without consent can be punished by school administration and/or the law.

If a device is not in use but is visible it may be confiscated by school personnel. Earphones that are visible are considered part of the device as well. Please inform your child of these policies so that their electronic device does not cause a distraction. If devices are confiscated by school personnel they are stored in the Dean’s Office and returned to students at the end of the school day. In some instances, it may become necessary for the device to be confiscated and returned to the student upon parent pick up only.

We thank you in advance for your continued cooperation and support of the Code of Conduct and all of its rules and policies. If you have any questions about a discipline or safety issue, please contact us in the Dean's office. © 2019 Flagler County Public Schools.
